Attendance
At Woodland View Primary and Nursery School, we believe good attendance starts at home and is strengthened through strong, respectful partnerships with parents and carers. We actively listen to families and value their voices; working together through a co-production approach to support every child’s success.
Everyday Matters
Regular attendance is key to helping children learn, grow in confidence, and build strong foundations for the future.
There are just 190 school days in a year for learning, alongside 175 days for holidays and family time, so every day in school is a valuable opportunity not to be missed.

Arriving on time helps children start the day calmly, ready to learn, and fully engaged in their morning lessons.
Our school gate is open from 8:25am to 8:30am. Arriving within this time allows children to settle quickly and make the
most of their learning opportunities.
What to do if your child is going to be absent:
Please call school on 01623 487087 before 8.30am on the morning of each day of absence.
We understand that there may be times when your child is too unwell to attend school. The NHS provides helpful guidance on when children should stay at home and when they can still attend. The page outlines common childhood illnesses and helps parents make informed decisions. Please note that minor illnesses such as colds or mild headaches don’t usually require time off.

Appointments should ideally be made for outside of school time; however, we do appreciate this is not always possible. Please send appointment/medical evidence to office@woodlandview.notts.sch.uk.
Exceptional Absences/Holiday Requests:
Please note that government guidance states that holidays in term time should not be approved.
The DfE & Transform Trust look for 97% whole school attendance overall.

School attendance is a priority for our school and we are constantly monitoring pupil attendance.
EBSA
Does your child find it hard to go to school?
Sometimes children struggle to attend school because of worries or emotional distress, this is known as EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance). It’s not about refusal or misbehaviour, but a sign your child may need extra understanding and support. If you feel this fits your child, please contact Miss Wilkinson so we can see how we can support you.

We want to work together with parents/carers to help ensure excellent attendance and punctuality for all pupils from an early age. If you have any concerns, please don't hesitate to contact the office, Miss Wilkinson or your class teacher.
